Alfombra con vaqueros viejos / Rug made our of old jeans

¿Hola de nuevo! Últimamente ando liada con muchas cosas, y aunque sigo haciendo cositas el tema va lento.

Hoy os enseño lo último que he hecho. Necesitábamos una pequeña alfombra para poner debajo de una silla, y he hecho esta con unos pantalones vaqueros viejos. Primero he cortado en tiras de 3-4 cm de ancho la parte de las perneras. Después, esas tiras se van enrollando y se sujetan unas a otras mediante punto bajo a ganchillo, hecho con un hilo de algodón. Yo usé hilo azul, pero podría hacerse con otros colores que contrasten con la tela vaquera. 

¡Espero que os guste! Es laboriosa, pero fácil de hacer, y el resultado es muy bueno.

Hi again! I'm quite busy recently with many different things, and even when I keep doing things, they go too slowly.

Anyway, today I show you the last thing I've done. We needed a small rug to put under a chair, and I have done this one with some old jeans. Firstly, I cut the trouser leg in long stripes, 3-4 cm wide. Then, I rolled the stripes and join them through single crochet stitches, crocheted with a thing cotton yarn. I used blue yarn, but it could be done with other contrasting colors.

I hope you'll like it! It takes a lot of work, but it was easy to make and the result is quite good.

Hobbes de ganchillo / Crocheted Hobbes

¡Hola! Aquí estoy de nuevo. Ha pasado bastante tiempo desde la última entrada que escribí, pero no me he olvidado del blog. Solo que han surgido otras cosas que quitan tiempo de hacer manualidades, y también de poder escribir aquí.
De todas formas, aquí estoy de nuevo. Esta vez os voy a enseñar un muñequito de ganchillo. Se trata de Hobbes, el célebre tigre del comic de Bill Watterson Calvin y Hobbes. Me encanta el cómic. Y cuando vi este patrón para hacer un Hobbes de ganchillo, no pude resistirme. Aquí os dejo el enlace, de un interesante blog escrito por Sukigirl.

Hi! Here I am again.It seems a lot of time has passed from the last time I published something here, but I haven't forgotten about the blog. But some other things happens, things that stole my time, so I couldn't make any craft or write here.
Anyway, here I am. Today I want to show you a nice stuffed crocheted character. It is Hobbes, the famous tiger from Bill Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes. Y aquí está una foto de mi Hobbes.¡Quedó muy bien! La pena es que no tenía lana naranja, y lo hice de color rojo. Aún así me gusta mucho el resultado final.

Ramo de Navidad / Christmas "ramo"

¡Hola! Como os prometí en la anterior entrada, aquí os traigo la foto del Ramo terminado. Como veis lo he pintado de un rojo burdeos muy apropiado para la época del año, y lo he adornado con una rama de acebo, cintas de raso verdes, pasamanería amarilla y verde, una cenefa de pequeñas manoplas de ganchillo y frutas de invierno y dulces. ¡Ha quedado muy bien! ¿Queréis saber cómo lo he hecho? I've painted it in dark red, which is a very suitable color for Christmas, and I've ornated it with a holly branch, dark green ribbons, green and yellow braids, a crocheted trim showing little mittens, some winter fruits and sweets. Preparando la Navidad / Preparing Christmas

¡Hola! Cada vez estamos más cerca de Navidad y hay que ir preparando la decoración de la casa. Este año he decidido que, en lugar de árbol de Navidad, voy a colocar en mi casa un ramo leonés de Navidad. En este enlace podéis ver un poco de esta tradición, aunque resumiré un poco en esta entrada en qué consiste.

Parece ser que el origen de esta tradición es muy antiguo, anterior incluso a la época romana. Por lo visto se trata de una tradición ligada al solsticio de invierno que posteriormente se ligó a la Navidad, y este ramo debe ser primo del árbol de Navidad europeo.
Así, parece ser que al principio eran ramas de árboles perennifolios (especialmente encinas). Era, y aún es, adornado con cintas de colores y caramelos.

It seems that the origin of this decoration is very old, even older than Romans. It may be a tradition related to winter solstice that was subsequently related to Chrismtas. In this way, it is our version of European Christmas trees.

It seems that, at the beginning, they were just branches of perennial trees, specially holm oak. I suppose that this is the origin of its name, since "ramo" means branch. This kind of ramo was, and it is still, ornated with sweets and coloured ribbons

Este ramo fue evolucionando de diferentes formas, dependiendo de las zonas. Hoy en día la forma más extendida es la triangular, adornado con cintas, velas (una por cada mes del año), frutas de invierno, elementos vegetales, puntillas de ganchillo, etc.

Así que, como no tengo ramo de Navidad, he decidido hacerme uno. Y como no sé hacerlo de madera, he decidido hacerlo de cartón. En el próximo post os explicaré como lo he ido haciendo, y como ha quedado.

This old ramo evolved in several ways in different areas. Nowadays the most abundant ramo has triangle shape, and it is ornated with ribbons, candles (one for every month of the year), winter fruits, plant elements, crochet laces, etc.

Thus, since I have no Christmas ramo, I decided to make one. Since I can't make it of wood, I decided to make it of cardboard. In the next post I'll show how I've done it, and how does it look.

Panettone

¡Hola! Ya vamos acercándonos a Navidad. Y como el otro día que estuve brujuleando por internet encontré una receta sencilla para hacer panettone, hoy me he puesto manos a la masa y aquí os dejo el enlace. La verdad es que tienen muy buena pinta, aunque aún no les he hincado el diente. La pena es que no tenía moldes suficientes (no pensaba que la masa fuese a aumentar tanto) y el apaño me ha quedado un poco cutre.

Hi! We are getting closer and closer to Christmas. And I feel in the mood to cook. A few days ago I found a easy recipe to make panettone, I copy down the link below. And I have just take my panettone out of the oven. I haven't tryed them yet, but they really look delicious. It's a shame that I didn't have molds enough (the dough grew more than I expected) and those I made with oven paper are a bit crappy.

Alfiletero cactus / Cactus pincushion

¡Hola! Hoy os voy a enseñar el cactus-alfiletero que le hice a una amiga como regalo de cumpleaños. Esta amiga está empezando a coser y pensé que sería un buen regalo. Además se lo envolví igual que ponen las plantas en las floristerías, quedó bien mono, como podéis ver en la primera foto. En las demás veremos el patrón que usé y como quedó finalmente.

Hi! Today I'm showing you a cactus pincushion, which I made for a friend's birthday present. This friend is starting to sew, so I though this would be a perfect present. And I wrapped it in the same way plants are wrapped in florists. It is so cute! You can see the final result in the first picture, in the rest you can see the pattern I used to make it and the final result.

¡Hola! Aquí estamos otra vez. Apenas si encuentro tiempo para escribir últimamente, y tampoco para hacer estas manualidades interesantes que os enseño aquí. Pero vamos avanzando poco a poco.

Hoy os voy a enseñar algo que se me ocurrió un día y que ¡ha quedado muy bien! Y además sirve para reciclar latas :) Estupendo, ¿no?

Ya sabemos que Halloween está a la vuelta de la esquina. Me gustan mucho las Jack O'Lantern, o calabazas de Halloween. Pero la calabaza en sí no me gusta, y la idea de comprar una calabaza para no saber qué hacer con la pulpa... pues como que no. ¿O estas calabazas no se comen? Lo cierto es que no lo sé. En todo caso, para solucionar el dilema se me ocurrió hacerme una de estas Jack O'Lantern con una lata vacía de refresco. ¡Y ha quedado genial! ¿No os parece? Y es muy fácil, la lata se recorta bien con unas tijeras un poco grandes, hay que tener cuidado no cortarse y hacer la boca lo suficientemente grande para poder poner la vela en su interior.

¿Qué opináis? Me encanta.

Hi there! Here I am again. I hardly find the time to write new entries, neither to make interesting crafts to post here. But I am still here.
I'm posting an idea that came to my mind some days ago, and that is really nice. And it's also good to recycle empty soda cans. :) That's great, isn't it?
We all know Halloween is very close. I really like the Jack O'Lanterns, those halloween-carved pumpkins. But I don't like pumpkin taste, and the idea of buying a whole pumpking and not eating it was not fancy to me. Or is this kind of pumpkin not good to eat? I don't know, really. In any case, I found the solution to this problem: It ocurred to me that I could make a smaller Jack O'Lantern with an empty soda can. And it looks great! Don't you think so? And it's really easy to make one, you just have to cut out the can with scissors, being careful not to cut yourself with the soda can. And you also need to cut a big enough mouth, so you can put a party-light inside the empty can.

What do you think? I love it.

Reparación con ganchillo irlandés / Irish crochet reparation

¡Hola! Parecía que el blog estaba abandonado, pero ¡no! Ha sido un verano muy ocupado. Pero ya estamos aquí otra vez.

Hoy os voy a enseñar algo que se me ocurrió para arreglar una falda. Cuando la saqué del armario a principios de verano, ¡horror! ¿Y estos agujeros? Menudo disgusto, es una de mis faldas favoritas. Así que me puse a pensar como arreglarlo. Lo primero que se me ocurrió fue cortar la parte de abajo, pero hubiera quedado demasiado corta, y sin la parte naranja. Así que seguí dándole vueltas al problema.

Today I'll show something I made to repair a skirt. When I took the skirt out of the wardrobe to wear it this summer... my God! What are these holes? I felt really upset, this is one of my favourite skirts. So I started to figure out how to fix it. First I thought about removing inferior part, but then the skirt would be too short. And all orange part would be removed. So I keep on thinking about it.

Bolso de verano... reciclando / Summer handbag... recycling

¡Hola! Después de un tiempo sin escribir nada, aquí estoy de nuevo.

Hoy os enseño un bolso para el verano que hice algún tiempo atrás. Para hacerlo usé un pantalón vaquero viejo y una camiseta que ya no usaba, pero que guardé porque me gustaba su dibujo. Y para forrarlo, una camisa vieja. Vamos, que nuevo solo lleva una hebilla y varios botones de colores. Pero ha quedado muy práctico y además muy colorido, ideal para el verano.

Aproveché la parte trasera del pantalón, con un bolsillo, para un lateral. Así puedo guardar allí una botella de agua, por ejemplo, o el móvil. Además tiene la particularidad que puede llevarse como una bandolera, cuando está abrochada la hebilla, o debajo del brazo, desabrochando la hebilla y abotonando cada una de las partes a un gran botón verde que hay a cada lado del bolso. ¿No es genial?

Espero que os guste y os dé alguna idea para hacer algo parecido.

 

Hi! Here I am again, after some time without writing anything.

Today I want to show you a summer handbag that I made some time ago with recycled materials. I used old jeans and an old T-Shirt, which I didn't use, but that I kept because I like its motif. I also used an old shirt to make the lining. The only new things I needed to make the handbag were a few colored-buttons and a buckle.

I used the backside part of the jeans, with the pocket, to get a lateral pocket in my handbag, so I can carry a bottle of water, or even my cell phone in it. And I can wear it as a shoulder bag, when the buckle is fastened resulting in a long strap, or under my arm, with unfastened buckled and the two straps buttoned in two big green buttons at both sides of the handbag. That's great, isn't it?

I hope you'll like it, and it will inspire you to make a similar one.

Jugando con plantas / Playing with plants

¡Hola! Estamos ya terminando mayo, parece que por fin llega el buen tiempo. Tenemos un pequeño huerto y la semana pasada comenzamos a plantar en él los tomates, pimientos, berenjenas... como nos sobraron plantas de tomate cherry, me decidí a plantar uno de ellos bocabajo. Hay muchas páginas en internet donde explican como tener plantas bocabajo en la terraza, balcón, etc., como estos ejemplos:

Siempre me he preguntado si la planta no tratará de crecer como siempre, girando el tallo hacia arriba. Así que aproveché una garrafa de agua vacía, la forré de papel de aluminio por dentro (porque no me gusta que crezcan algas porque da la luz a la tierra) y ahí está la planta de tomatitos, si crece bien tendré unos deliciosos tomates en mi propia terraza, ñam-ñam. Ya os contaré como va evolucionando.

Hi! We are just ending May, and it seems good weather arrived at least. We have a little vegetable patch and last weekend we started to plant our vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants... and since we had some cherry-tomato remaining plants, I decided to plant one of them upside down. I always wondered if the plant would try to grow upwards, bending its stem. So I used an empty water container, I put some alumminium foil at the inside (I don't want green algae growing because of light on the soil) and put there one of tomato-cherry plants. If it works I will have many delicious tomatoes in my own balcony, yum-yum. I will let you know how does it works.

Jersey "descapotable" / Convertible sweater

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal va este mes de abril que se nos termina? Espero que muy bien.
Para estos tiempos de primavera con fresquito mañanero y más calor al mediodía, os dejo una buena idea para un jersey de punto. Todo en él es totalmente normal excepto las mangas: están tejidas en dos piezas que se unen con botones, de manera que si tienes frío, los abrochas y tienes un jersey de manga larga. Y si tienes calor, pues las desabrochas y tienes un jersecito de manga corta. ¿No es genial? Espero que os guste tanto como a mí y os hagais uno parecido.

Hi there! How is this month going on? I hope very well. 
Today I just drop an idea for spring time, with this cool weather in the morning and quite warm at midday. It's just a normal swater, but the sleeves were knitted in two parts, which are linked together with buttons. In this way, if weather is cold, you just button it up and you have a long-sleeved sweater. If weather is warm, you unbutton and there you are, a nice short-sleeve sweater. I love this sweater, I hope you will use this idea and make one for yourself.

Mini-macetero de macramé / Mini-plant hanger

¡Hola! Llevo unos días guardando un pequeño recipiente de plástico para plantar perejil en él, me gusta tener perejil fresco para cocinar. Ayer por fin me decidí y, como el mejor lugar para situarlo es un ganchito al lado de la ventana, con un ovillo de lana que tenía por ahí le hice un pequeño colgador con cuatro nudos de macramé. Para que quedase un poco más lucido le añadí unos botones, como veis son simples botones de una camisa, pero le dan un toque más chic. Espero que las semillas germinen pronto y así tendré mi perejil listo para cocinar.

Hi! I've been keeping this little plastic container to plant some parsley in it, I like to have fresh herbs to cook with. Yesterday I did it, and the best place to put the little pot was hanging from a little hanger in the wall beside the window. Thus, I used some yarn remnant to make this little plant hanger, with a few square knots and some spiral stitches. I added a few buttons, just simple buttons from an old shirt, but now the hanger looks nicer. I hope the seeds will germinate soon and I will have my parsley ready to cook.
